Investigation opened after attack on four LFI activists by two "nationalist" individuals in Brest

The far right strikes in Brest. The Brest prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into aggravated violence following the alleged assault of four La France Insoumise activists by hooded men on Saturday, August 30, during a school supplies collection for the Secours Populaire, according to the prosecutor's office and the political party.
"The office (of the public prosecutor's office) was notified at the end of the day (Saturday) by the CIAT (police station) in Brest, which was asked to investigate the charge of aggravated violence," Emmanuel Phelippeau, deputy public prosecutor in Brest, told AFP on Sunday, confirming a report in local media.
In a press release issued on Saturday, La France Insoumise announced that "LFI activists" had been "beaten up in Brest by the far right." La France Insoumise in Brest had organized "a collection of supplies for the benefit of the popular relief during this back-to-school period."
"Two hooded individuals, clearly belonging to a small fascist group, violently attacked a group of four activists. Two of them, knocked to the ground, were repeatedly beaten, particularly in the face. For one of them, this followed death threats," according to the LFI press release, which "is alarmed by the resurgence of violent acts by far-right groups ." During the attack, the two men reportedly shouted "Brest est natio" several times.
The Brest Métropole Océane Human Rights League (LDH) also condemned the attack on its Facebook page on Sunday. "The LDH is appalled by the violent and completely gratuitous attack suffered by the two La France Insoumise activists. This premeditated and targeted physical attack is a first in the recent history of activist life in Brest," the LDH denounced.
It's step by step, argument against argument, that we must fight the extreme right. And that's what we do every day in L'Humanité.
In the face of relentless attacks from racists and hatemongers: support us! Together, let's make another voice heard in this increasingly nauseating public debate. I want to know more.
